In Bali, the Balian holds a role that predates any spa menu — a traditional healer working within the Usadha system, a body of Balinese healing knowledge passed down through generations, often within a single family lineage. Our Authentic Balinese Healer Consultation was created for travelers who have heard about this tradition and want to experience it honestly, not as a curated tourist performance but as a genuine, private meeting with a respected local healer. This is not a tour we treat lightly, and we ask guests to approach it the same way.
We work with a non-touristy lineage healer, someone known and trusted within their own community rather than a stop built for visitor traffic. Because language is often a real barrier in these consultations, we provide a private cultural translator and host who accompanies you throughout, making sure nothing is lost between what the healer offers and what you understand. The setting is private and confidential — this is not a group activity, and conversations stay between you, the healer, and your translator.
What the Visit Involves
Depending on the healer and the nature of your consultation, the session may include the preparation of herbal massage oil or traditional tea, prepared by hand using knowledge specific to that healer’s practice. We are careful never to promise specific medical outcomes — this is a cultural and holistic wellness experience rooted in Balinese tradition, not a substitute for medical care. The full visit runs 5 to 6 hours in a private vehicle, priced at $75 USD per person.
