This tour is built as a journey from highland cool down to coastal gold, and it opens at Taman Ayun, the royal water temple built for the Mengwi kingdom in the 17th century. Surrounded by a wide moat and manicured gardens, its tiered meru towers reflect in still water — one of the most photogenic and peaceful temple complexes on the island.
From there we head up into the Bedugul highlands, where the air turns crisp and misty and Lake Beratan comes into view. Ulun Danu Beratan, the lake temple dedicated to the goddess of water and irrigation, sits right at the water’s edge here — it’s one of the most photographed temples in Bali for good reason. We give you time to walk the grounds and simply enjoy the cooler climate.
From Forest to Sunset
On the way down we stop at Alas Kedaton, a shaded forest sanctuary home to troops of long-tailed macaques and fruit bats, tucked around an old temple. Then it’s on to the day’s finale: Tanah Lot, the iconic offshore temple perched on a rock outcrop that seems to rise straight out of the sea. We time your arrival for golden hour, when the temple silhouette, the waves, and the setting sun line up for the shot Bali is known for.
